About us
1965-1968
The history of the organization started with the establishment of N.V. Meelmaatschappij De Molen in 1965 with the objective of producing flour locally for the bread industry, saving foreign currency and creating employment. The following year, in 1966, De Molen was acquired by Bhikharie Handelsmaatschappij owned by Mr. Soekhoe Bhikharie. Soon after the start, it became clear that the by-product of De Molen, namely wheat bran, was excellently suited for feed production.
Therefore, in 1968 N.V. Veevoer Fabriek Suriname (VESU) was established, and the wheat bran of De Molen was used as an essential component for the feed production. In the 53 years since its establishment, VESU has grown into the preferred supplier of poultry feed on the local market.
2012-2013
In 2012, the Bhikharie’s Investments in Good Will Group N.V., the BIG Will Group, was founded by Mr. Julio Bhikharie, Grandson of Soekhoe Bhikharie, with the objective of centralising control and creating a vertically and horizontally integrated chain of existing and new companies that provide in the basic needs of especially the food and feed industry. In addition, the objective is to identify opportunities for the further expansion of the existing chain to become a sustainable self-sufficient group. It was in this context that Caricom Livestock Farm N.V., better known under the brand TOK, was established in 2013. The company processes and sells chicken meat. Through collaborations with contract farmers the BIG Will Group/TOK actively contributes to the promotion of local (micro) entrepreneurship, a principle the BIG Will Group has strongly committed to.
2016-2021
In 2016, Foodlab N.V. was established, a company focused on the production of (food) products, utilizing the products and adding value to the by-products of the sister companies.
In 2021 Foodlab started with the production of “short pastas” such as penne, macaroni and fusilli. The company created the brand name Aladey, which means Everyday in Sranantongo. The line of pasta products creates value to flour of De Molen, while we promote the diversification of our nutritional diet, which mainly consists of bread and rice.
